Silver Strings is proud to offer 2 digitally mastered CD's for your
enjoyment. These CD recordings were made in response to many requests
from appreciative listeners during performances at various venues.
Silver String's debut recording is entitled
Silver Strings Dulcimer Society and was released in February
1999.
It consists of upbeat traditional old time string band music played on the
hammered dulcimer as well as other acoustic instruments, such as the mountain
dulcimer, guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, autoharp, recorder, harmonica and
string bass. All of the tunes on this recording are typical of the
tunes played at club meetings and at music jams throughout the Michigan
region. Since the beginning of the hammered dulcimer revival in the
1970's, Michigan players have been rekindling the interest in this almost
forgotten but beautiful sounding instrument. At the close of the 2008
holiday season, a second CD was recorded entitled
Holiday Tradition. This CD
consists of
traditional Christmas and festive holiday tunes. It
was released in October 2009.
Below is a list of the tunes on each CD. Several of the tunes have
samplers for you to listen to now. Cassette tapes are still available
for the Silver Strings Dulcimer Society recording.
